Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov says this year summer children camps will welcome 2.7 million Ukrainian kids, half a million more comparing to the previous year. At the same time Azarov pointed out that the condition of summer camps leaves much to be desired.

"It is necessary to consider what we can do to improve the situation. The Soviet system collapsed long time ago, and we need to develop a new one, based on market principles," he said at Cabinet's meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.

Azarov has criticized the leadership of Crimea and a number of regions for poor policy regarding children's health improvement and ordered vice PM Serhiy Tihipko to analyze the current system of summer camps and to work out a new policy.

The PM added that the rise in the cost for children's vacation should not exceed the inflation index.
As a possible financial solution Azarov proposed to place children's camps under management of public organizations, which in their turn will be charged with finding financing and managing the modernization process.

In addition, the Premier instructed the education minister and health minister to organize field trips of senior students to children's summer camps.
