The European Union has no intention to boycott Euro-2012 in Ukraine, EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule said Tuesday.

"The Commission and Council will never use the word 'boycott'... President Jose Manual Barroso does not intend to visit Ukraine to attend Euro-2012 matches, and his opinion is shared by his colleagues. But take into account that Commissioners takes part in this on personal will, not on a professional duty. It is not a boycott. We are sure that Euro-2012 will be a great success," the Commissioner said.

Fule also pointed out that this event must be associated with sport, not politics.
