Ukraine consistently supports the NATO Lisbon Strategy of NATO to gradually withdraw international troops from Afghanistan by the end of 2014, President Viktor Yanukovych said in his speech at the meeting of the Heads of State and Government of the Nations contributing to the ISAF in Chicago, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.
"We also support the long-term partnership with Afghanistan in the framework of the new NATO Strategic Plan for Afghanistan," he said.
Viktor Yanukovych said that over the ten years of its activity, the International Security Assistance Force has made an important contribution into the development of Afghanistan. In this context, he highly evaluated the participation of Ukrainian peacekeepers in this mission since May 2007.
