The government of Ukraine is considering a possibility to reduce prices for Ukrainian domestic flights, vice PM and minister for infrastructure of Ukraine Borys Kolesnikov told a briefing after the official opening of the new terminal of "Kyiv" airport (Zhuliany), ForUm correspondent reports.

According to the minister, international and domestic flights cannot compete because the price for domestic flights includes VAT, while international flights do not have this tax.

"For today we have only few passengers using domestic flights, and our task is to increase this number. We are ready to take serious measures to reduce the prices for domestic flights. The price for flights consists of the fuel price. For domestic flights the fuel prices is taxed with VAT, for international flights not. I think we are ready to cancel passengers' duties within the country, adding them to international flights," the minister said.

Kolesnikov also did not rule out that VAT for domestic flights may be cancelled if airlines reduce flight prices.

In addition, Kolesnikov declared that there are no obstacles for low-cost companies to exercise flights in Ukraine. "Such companies do not need any particular permission, but have to simply inform about introduction of this or that flight," he said.
