"In May 2012, National Joint-Stock Company Naftogaz of Ukraine and RWE Supply & Trading GmbH (RWEST, Germany) signed a framework agreement on the purchase and sale of natural gas," reads the statement, UKRINFORM reports.
The company added that the agreement creates legal grounds for the possible supply of natural gas from RWEST to Naftogaz and, at the same time, does not contain the parties' obligations to ensure the mandatory sale or purchase of natural gas.
The prices, supply volumes, as well as the obligations of the parties for the supply of natural gas, will be determined in individual contracts after they are agreed and signed by both companies.
RWEST is one of the largest companies in Europe engaged in the electricity and gas sector. RWEST is part of RWE AG, an operator of the powerful gas transportation system in Europe, which owns 23,000 km of gas pipelines and underground gas storage facilities with a capacity of up to 7.4 billion cubic meters. RWEST annually buys and supplies about 50 billion cubic meters of natural gas for the needs of European countries.
