PJSC State Savings Bank of Ukraine (Oschadbank) will develop a list of documents by May 13 that are needed for participation in the Affordable Housing program, under which the public will be given loans to buy housing at 3% per annum in the hryvnia for a period of 10-15 years.

Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Anatoliy Blyzniuk announced this on Thursday, according to the press service of the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities, UKRINFORM reports.

Oschadbank is studying a government resolution, collecting a package of documents, and their list will be ready on May 11-12. This scheme will start working after May 15,” he said.

According to the minister, information on the first 100-200 homes that will participate in the program will be posted on the website of the ministry.

The minister said that at present only Oschadbank had expressed a desire to participate in this program.

Blyzniuk also said that first and foremost, the Affordable Housing program is designed for people who need better housing conditions, i.e. under current legislation, those placed on the housing waiting list.

"Today, 1.136 million people are on the housing waiting list, even if 10% of them are young people who will be able to pay this 3%, these are already 113,600 people. The UAH 1 billion envisaged for the implementation of this program this year will be enough to provide 30,000 families [with housing]. Therefore, those not put on the housing waiting list may also participate in this program. We will work with them," the minister said. He added that it would be possible to purchase housing in every region in Ukraine, not only at the place of residence.

Blyzniuk also said that the ministry had created an interdepartmental commission that will accept proposals from the regions and developers and work with banks.
