The results the President's team has achieved for the last two years are only the beginning of necessary reformations, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said opening extraordinary session of the Cabinet, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Though we've done more for this time than for the passed 20 years, the reformation process must be speeded up," the PM said.

According to Azarov, eight energy blocks of thermal power plants have been modernized, but another 70 are still waiting for their turn. "We have prolonged the operating term of one energy block of a nuclear power plant, and still need to prolong the resource of other ten. By the way, the modernization of only one such energy block costs about four billion hryvnias," he said.

According to the Premier, in 2011 there were built and reconstructed two thousand km of motor roads, "but the total number of roads, needed restoration, is 170 thousand km, 60 thousand km of which are the state highroads."

"We have built 10 million sq m of housing, but still need to build at least 20 million sq m annually. The perfect variant is to build 50 million sq m annually, so in 5-10 years we can solve the housing problem in the country and to renew the worn-out housing stock," Azarov explained.

The PM also added that Ukraine has to do all this under unfavorable conditions. "Ukraine is experiencing not simple period. The world markets shows uncertainty. So we need to analyze better our decisions and look for new approaches," Azarov summed up.
