On April 16 President Viktor Yanukovych paid an official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and had meetings with King Abdullah II of Jordan, Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Awn Shawkat Al-Khasawneh and Jordanian Parliament's Lower House Speaker Abdul Karim Dughmi, presidential press office reported.

Speaking at Ukrainian-Jordanian expanded talks President Viktor Yanukovych pointed out that Ukraine considers Jordan as an important partner in the Middle East.

"This visit will give new impetus to our relations, and our mutual interest will only be growing," he said.

The President also pointed to the successful implementation of the agreements reached during last year's visit of King Abdullah II of Jordan to Ukraine. "All our agreements are moving forward, we need to expand the range of issues. The base for this is our trust to each other," Viktor Yanukovych stressed.

Viktor Yanukovych emphasized the importance of continued development of the contractual framework between our countries.

The President also said that Ukraine is interested in developing aerospace, engineering, electrical energy, transportation, agriculture, military, scientific and technical cooperation with Jordan.

For his part, King Abdullah II of Jordan stressed that the visit of the President of Ukraine to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan proves that bilateral relations between the states are developing. He also praised the effectiveness of work of the Joint Ukrainian-Jordanian Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.

Speaking at the meeting with Jordanian Prime Minister the President of Ukraine expressed the opinion that the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Jordanian Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation and Ukrainian-Jordanian business forums are key instruments of development of our countries’ relations. "They will continue creating incentives for Ukrainian businesses," Viktor Yanukovych said.

Viktor Yanukovych also said that Ukraine and Jordan should discuss more potentially interesting areas of cooperation in the framework of the Intergovernmental Commission.

Prime Minister Awn Shawkat Al-Khasawneh in turn expressed his hope that President Yanukovych’s visit to Jordan would open a new page in the cooperation between our countries. He noted that Jordan is interested in developing agricultural, industrial, military and technical cooperation with Ukraine.
