President Viktor Yanukovych has instructed Prime Minister Mykola Azarov to prepare and submit to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine a draft bill on amendments to the 2012 state budget to increase financing for upgrade of pre-trial detention facilities, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.
"To ensure preparation and submission to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of a draft bill on amendments to the state budget of Ukraine for 2012 in order to increase spending on improvement of the living conditions and health security of detainees in pre-trial detention facilities," the instruction reads.
The Prime Minister must report on the performed work by May 10, 2012.
President Viktor Yanukovych has also instructed Justice Minister Oleksandr Lavrynovych and State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine Chief Oleksandr Lisitskov to take measures to bring legislation on custody regulations in line with international standards.
The instruction must be carried out by June 8, 2012.
