The European Union will resume the program of budget support to Ukraine worth EUR 160 million in a few weeks, Ukrainian Minister of Economic Development and Trade Petro Poroshenko said following his meeting with EU Ambassador to Ukraine Jose Manuel Pinto Teixeira on Monday in Kyiv, the ministry said in a statement, UKRINFORM reports.

"The total funding exceeds EUR 160 million. We have agreed that in the near future we will demonstrate substantial progress in cooperation with the EU, and I am convinced that we just in a few weeks will be able to report on the restoration of this cooperation," Poroshenko said.

The minister added that the sides have coordinated and planned entirely clear steps towards the restoration of the technical assistance programs that will develop in three areas: support for the energy sector, support for reform, support for regional development.

Earlier it was reported that the Commission suspended budget support programs in Ukraine for more than EUR 160 million a year due to inefficient distribution of funds provided.
