A country-consumer has a right to demand from Ukraine the unification of quality standards of the imported production, deputy agricultural minister Mykola Bezugly said at a meeting of the CIS intergovernmental council, ForUm correspondent reports.

"After joining the WTO we harmonized the majority part of standards with the European Union, and now our products are being sold in EU countries. At the same time Russia's requirements to the quality of Ukrainian cheeses, imported to the RF, are legal. Producers of any other products must understand this," the official said.

However, according to the deputy minister, if the standards have been unified with the international ones, they will not be changed to adapt to the norms of separate countries.

Bezugly noted that CIS countries should settle this question together. "In Belarus, for example, there is a single method to keep the balance of agricultural production, and it was decided to use this method in all CIS countries, in both domestic and foreign markets. Already next meeting we will use this common method," the official summed up.
