Baker Tilly Ukraine has been declared the winner of a tender to assess the value of the Ukrainian gas transport system, and it wants UAH 4.1 million to be paid for this service, the press service of Ukraine's state oil and gas firm Naftogaz has reported, according to UKRINFORM.
"The tender committee of the national JSC Naftogaz of Ukraine has completed an assessment of the final bids provided by the participants in the purchase of services to assess the value of the assets of the Ukrainian gas transport system. Baker Tilly Ukraine Ltd. (Kyiv, Ukraine) was declared the winner by the highest number of points. The bid price quoted by Baker Tilly Ukraine Ltd. is UAH 4.1 million," reads the statement.
Baker Tilly Ukraine has to assess the value of the assets of the Ukrainian gas transport system, including its underground gas storage and infrastructure facilities, by August 1, 2012.
As UKRINFORM reported, proposals for participation in a tender to choose an appraiser of the Ukrainian gas transport system were submitted by four companies: Thomas & Simonova (Kyiv, Ukraine), Duff & Phelps (New York, the United States), Baker Tilly Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine) and Ernst & Young (Kyiv, Ukraine).
Duff & Phelps proposed assessing the gas transport system for UAH 4.4 million and Ernst & Young for UAH 5.92 million. At the same time, Thomas & Simonova's proposal was rejected, because the company's documents did not comply with the tender conditions.
In January 2012, Naftogaz, on the instruction of the Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Ministry, started the bidding procedures to select a company to assess the value of the Ukrainian gas transport system. The assessment should speed up and simplify the process of creating a trilateral consortium to manage the Ukrainian gas transport system.
The Ukrainian gas transport system was assessed twice. In 2007, the Image consulting firm called the price of USD 24 billion. In 2009, the Uvecon consulting company decided that the value of the gas transport system does not exceed USD 10 billion.
