The announced social initiatives are aimed first of all at prevention of growth of poverty in Ukraine, vice PM and minister for social policy Serhiy Tihipko told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

"We can say that poverty in Ukraine gradually decreases, but frankly speaking the figures are still somewhere about 22-24%," he said.

According to the minister, these Ukrainians have all grounds to consider themselves poor. "It is real situation, and social initiatives are aimed at prevention. We have to prevent situations when nobody cares about such families and does nothing to pull them out of poverty," Tihipkko said.

The official specified that social initiatives are aimed first of all at improvement of life of pensioners, unemployed, children and disabled.
