Ukraine and Cuba are interested in developing cooperation in the health sector. This was discussed during a meeting of Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov with Vice-President of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cuba Marino Murillo, the liaison department of the Cabinet of Ministers' Secretariat reported, according to UKRINFORM.

According to Mykola Azarov, Ukraine has already received a draft agreement on the establishment of a joint Ukrainian-Cuban pharmacological enterprise to produce medications for the treatment of cancer patients. "The project is now considered by our Ministry of Health. After that it will be submitted for signature by the Cuban side," the head of the Ukrainian government said.

The Prime Minister noted that Ukraine is aware of the achievements of Cuban doctors in the treatment of cancer, so this partnership will make it possible to borrow experience from Cuba: "We know about the wonderful results of treatment of cancer patients, achieved by the Cuban doctors. And we are ready to create here such a center with you."

In addition, as Mykola Azarov noted, Ukraine is interested in the project for the production of biopharmaceutical products with the participation of the Cuban Center of Molecular Immunology and the Ukrainian pharmaceutical company Darnitsa.

The head of the Ukrainian government thanked the Cuban side for the treatment of 18 thousand Ukrainian children affected by the Chornobyl disaster. He reiterated the interest of the Ukrainian side in further rehabilitation and treatment of children, noting that Ukraine is ready to finance it, "I want to emphasize that Cuba is the only country that is so much concerned about the Ukrainian children. I would like to inform you that we are ready to fund the treatment of our children."
