The Verkhovna Rada adopted in the second reading the draft law of May 20, 2010, "On TV and Radio Broadcasting," which introduced a ban for commercial interactive TV and radio broadcasts, UKRINFORM reports.

In particular, the document proposes to ban broadcasting of TV and radio programs with interactive competitions, whose terms directly or indirectly envisage paid-up receiving of a special status of a participant or propose to approach TV or radio organization for the paid service (calls, SMS, etc.).

Now, Ukrainian TV viewers will see interactive competitions on TV channels with limited access, but with mandatory warning that calls to the TV studio should be paid for and that participation in the competition may inflict financial damage.

In addition, broadcasting of programs with paid-up interactive competitions should be permanently accompanied with current information about the volume of calls and chances of being connected to TV or radio studios.

At the same time, a ban for broadcasting will not be spread to lotteries, creative, sports competitions, as well as to free promotional events.
