More than 1500 heating stations have been opened in Ukraine, and on Monday the government ordered to equip emergency recovery trains with additional energy resources, PM Mykola Azarov said opening a session of the Cabinet, ForUm correspondent reports.

"The weather is testing us again, but the country is ready to pass this exam. We have created sufficient storage of gas, coal, residual oil, which will guarantee continues functioning of heating supply objects for the period of strong frosts. Besides, mobile trains are well-equipped and are ready to respond to any emergency situation all over the country," Azarov said.

He also informed that the Health Ministry has forbidden releasing homeless people from hospitals for the period of strong frosts, and that police officers, doctors and communal service workers should render assistance to those living in the streets: to send them to heating stations or any other available warm facility.

Azarov has also charged vice PM Serhiy Tigipko to organize social patrols engaged into visiting old people living alone. According to the Premier, social workers will render every assistance to all in need.
