Ukraine and Moldova have good prospects for developing and intensifying their bilateral cooperation, President Viktor Yanukovych said at a meeting with President of Parliament, Acting President of Moldova Marian Lupu. "We now have a good opportunity to discuss our bilateral relations," President Yanukovych said starting the conversation.

"I am convinced that we need to discuss the prospects of possible stirring up the work of our governments and our trade and economic relations, which we can surely expand," Viktor Yanukovych said, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.

The President also noted that the issue of settlement of the Transnistrian conflict and Ukraine's participation in this process should not be omitted.

The Acting President of Moldova, in turn, noted that last year has been very productive in terms of the intensification of cooperation between Ukraine and Moldova. "We have succeeded in really bringing lift these relations to a new level based on the principles of good neighborliness and friendship. Many issues were resolved that had been frozen for a long time. We had enough wisdom, courage and responsibility to solve these issues," he said.

Marian Lupu also drew attention to positive results of Ukrainian-Moldovan trade and economic cooperation. "Moldova attaches strategic importance to its relations with Ukraine, and we will do everything to maintain these relations at a high level," the Acting President of Moldova said.
