Interior Minister of Ukraine Vitaly Zakharchenko intends to reduce the number of traffic police officers on the streets, as he said at an extended meeting of Interior Ministry board, ForUm correspondent reports.

According to the Minister, traffic police officers will be replaced by technical equipment for recording violations of traffic regulation. "Citizens demand effective work, but at the same time they are irritated by a large number of police officers on the streets. People also complain about red tape and waste of time when they need to get some documents in the Ministry. They also complain about long wait for police officers in emergency situations," Zakharchenko said.

The Minister has promised that all drawbacks will be dealt with. "We will engage technical equipment, video surveillance, special transport and modern technologies. All this will allow reducing the number of officers on the streets," Zakharchenko said.
