Free trade area with the EU and free trade area with CIS do not exclude each other, Cabinet's representative on cooperation with Russia and CIS countries Valery Muntiyan said in an interview with "Era" radio, ForUm learned from the press office of Economy Ministry.

"Ukraine has interests in the West and in the East, as well as North and South. 28% of trade turnover with EU countries is also of value. But Ukraine will not strive for FTA with EU at any cost," the official said.

According to Muntiyan, membership in the Customs Union will help Ukraine to enter Europe under more advantageous conditions. "Being a member of the Customs Union we can associate in EU under better conditions and become an equal partner, not outskirts. Through the Customs Union we can enter both financial, innovation and goods and services markets of the EU and markets of Asian region. We cannot do it alone," Cabinet's representative underlined referring to research results of Academy of Science.

From the economic point of view the membership in the Customs Union will give Ukraine reduced gas and oil prices, lift of antidumping investigation and support of domestic economic sectors, Muntiyan said.
