The sending of Ukrainian peacekeepers to Liberia is being completed as part of the 16th rotation of the 56th separate helicopter detachment in Odesa region, the press service of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry has reported, according to UKRINFORM.

The commander of the Mi-8 helicopter chain of the 56th separate helicopter detachment, Lieutenant Colonel Ihor Mazepa, said that 115 Ukrainian peacekeepers would fly from Odesa Airport to the African continent in the early hours of December 29 to replace their colleagues and fulfill the tasks of the command as part of the United Nations Mission in Liberia within six months.

Many servicemen of the new rotation already have experience in participating in the operations of the UN Mission, and it was formed mainly on the basis of the 3rd Army Aviation Regiment of the 8th Army Corps of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The 16th rotation of the personnel of the 56th separate helicopter detachment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces of the United Nations Mission in Liberia, during which 275 Ukrainian peacekeepers will be replaced, started on December 16.
