The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn calls the outgoing year a year of "continuous struggle."

"The outgoing year is a year of continuous struggle, continuous attempts to keep the situation in the Verkhovna Rada at an acceptable level," Lytvyn told journalists and added that he was trying to "preserve the face of the Verkhovna Rada."

Among the key decisions taken by the parliament this year Lytvyn mentioned the pension reform, the law on elections and the budget for the next year. He noted that it might seem sometimes that the decisions are being taken quickly and easily. "On the contrary, the decision-making process is preceded by hard work and long discussions," he stressed.
The speaker also expressed a hope to have the next year successful.
