Foreign Ministry of Ukraine has agreed with the European union on increase of number of categories of Ukrainian citizens, who have a right to obtain free of charge Schengen visas, Andriy Olefirov, official of the consulate department of FM, told a press conference.

"There were 14 categories of Ukrainian citizens who have a right to apply for free of charge visa. We have added three other categories, and it has been finally agreed with our European partners," he said.

According to Olefirov, the matter concerns representatives of trade unions, members of religious organizations and representatives of non-governmental organizations.

FM official also informed that from now on long term visas would be issued for one and five years.
In addition, Olefirov said that to the category of journalists, who can apply for free visa, the Foreign Ministry has managed to add accompanying persons, the so-called technical staff. "Those who have cameras can also apply for free Schengen visas," he explained.
