The Ministry of Health points to the growth of the number of measles cases in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia and Rivne regions, said Deputy Health Minister Raisa Moiseenko, UKRINFORM reports.
She explains these facts both due to the rising incidence in Europe, and that in 2008 Ukraine was unable to hold a large-scale immunization of adolescents and young people from the disease.
Moiseenko said in comparison with the previous year, measles incidence has increased by 6 times, and the number of cases as of October was 193.
In the summer the Health Ministry excluded the threat of a measles epidemic in Ukraine.
