The Central Election Commission declares that the data base of the State register of voters is highly protected in accordance with world standards of security, and that the security system makes it impossible to make unauthorized copies.

This statement was issued by the Commission in response to the report of the Security Service of Ukraine on detention of two workers of a consulting company in Kyiv, who tried to sell illegally the confidential data bases of the state departments, including the State register of voters.

The Central Election Commission notes that as of November 30 SBU officials have not made any official inquiry regarding the examination of the recollected information and its correspondence to the authentic data base of the State register of voters.

In addition, the Central Election Commission points out that the State service on information protection has not registered any cases of illegal access to the State register of voters, including illegal copying of its data base.

"Regarding the statement of the press office of the Security Service of Ukraine, which proves alleged vulnerability of the State register of voters, the Central Election Commission notes that such statements decrease people's trust in information systems, protected by the state and discredit the work of relevant state bodies. The Central Election Commission calls to hold thorough investigation of the information before publishing it," the statement of the CEC press office says.
