Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn put off signing the Law on Quotas on the National Production in the Television and Radio Broadcasting until Discrepancies in the Text of the Law are corrected, ForUm learned from the press office of the parliament.

Lytvyn agreed to the proposals of the Central Scientific Experts Department of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariate as to correction of discrepancies in the adopted law of Ukraine "On Television and Radio Broadcasting" (re harmonization with the European Convention on Transfrontier Television). He recommitted the text of the law to the Committee on the Freedom of Speech and Information.

In line with clause 131 of the Standing Orders of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Lytvyn commissioned the Committee on the Freedom of Speech and Information to draft and bring forward the proposals concerning correction of discrepancies in the text of the law. Corrections concern the quota on the national production in the television and radio broadcasting, and use of terms "the national audio-visual production" and "Ukrainian programs."
