Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Pshonka stands for decriminalization and humanization of punishment for economic crimes, Prosecutor's Office spokesman Yuri Boichenko told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

"The Prosecutor General supports decriminalization of all articles of the Criminal Code regarding responsibility for economic crimes. The new Criminal Code should provide for administrative responsibility for the part of these articles," he said.

According to Boichenko, the Prosecutor General also supports the humanization of punishment. "Fines should be introduced instead of custody," he added.

The spokesman also informed that the Prosecutor General refused to comment on the article of the Criminal Code, according to which Yulia Tymoshenko was processed. "For now the Prosecutor's General Office and investigators act in accordance with the legislation in force," he pointed out.
