President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych hopes that the appeal trial on the case of former PM Yulia Tymoshenko will be held under new criminal legislation. He told a briefing in Khmelnitsk region.

Speaking about political estimations of Tymoshenko case, Yanukovych expressed assurance that if such situation happened in any other country, even the most democratic, 'no one would say a word.'
According to Yanukovych, Ukraine is being monitored 'under microscope'.

The President noted once again he personally does not like the course of events regarding Tymoshenko case, and added that new criminal legislation will be adopted soon.

"If corresponding laws are adopted by the time of Tymoshenko's appeal, the court will take them into account. The trial will be held in accordance with the laws, which will be in force for that moment," he explained.
