The Association agreement between Ukraine and the EU is recognition of the fact that Ukraine is a part of Ukraine, Foreign Minister spokesman Oleh Voloshyn told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

"The Association agreement with the EU is not an agreement on Ukraine's membership in the EU in two or in ten years. It is just recognition of the fact that Ukraine historically and geographically is a part of Europe, and in accordance with the European statute has a right to enter the Union, of course after having fulfilled a number of requirements and standards," he said in particular.

Commenting on the statement of MP Kozhara on that Ukrainian parliament may not ratify the agreement if there are no registered prospects of Ukraine's membership, Voloshyn said that 'the integration process does not involve only the president and government, but the whole society.' At the same time, Voloshyn noted that the Foreign Ministry understands concern of Ukrainians MP, who will have to ratify and explain this agreement to the electorate.

In addition, he underlined that the Association agreement, which includes free trade area agreement, "is not a present for Ukraine, but mutual benefits for both Ukraine and the EU." "Ukraine is making essential concessions, opening its markets for European goods,' he added.

That's why, the FM representative noted, the Ukrainian people and the state deserve to have prospects of Ukraine's membership to be registered in the agreement.
