Ukraine and Russia will continue gas talks, but hardly the Russian side will go on strained relations, MP of Ukraine from the Party of Regions Volodymyr Vecherko said in commentary to UNN.

The politician believes that the leaders of the Russian Federation and the Ukrainian side do not want to escalate relations between the two countries, even before the elections to the State Duma and the President of Russia.

Volodymyr Vecherko stressed that talks on gas issues will continue. "I note that the delegation of "Gazprom" is already in Kyiv for talks in the Ministry of Fuel and Energy," he stressed, ForUm learned in the press office of the Party of Regions.

MP also said that representatives of the two countries may soon turn to the topic of diversifying natural gas supplies through Ukraine, and to the issue of a gas transport consortium.

"Ukrainian gas transport system has throughput capacity of 240 billion cubic meters of natural gas. Neither North nor South flows can not transport such gas quantity," the MP said.

In his opinion, Ukraine should use the united system of GTS management, where the representatives of Russia and the EU will participate.
