Gas contracts of 2009 were signed by Tymoshenko in exchange for the write-off of debts of the Common energy systems of Ukraine, (headed by Tymoshenko in 1995-97 -ed.), Vladislav Lukianov, first deputy chairman of budget committee said in an interview with ForUm.
"This agreement was made under non-transparent conditions and with falsification of certain documents. A PM does not have a right to take this kind of decision single-handedly. However, the decision was made in exchange for the write-off of debts of the Common energy systems of Ukraine. It is pure corruption and we will fight it: nobody is outside the law in Ukraine," the politician said.
"Now the whole country pays for these gas agreements, but Ukraine cannot afford expensive Tymoshenko. We understand that it is an international agreement and our country bears responsibility for it. We are making very meticulous and delicate work to denounce and revise these agreements, because penalty in 300% of the cost for undertaken gas is a crime," Lukianov summed up.
