The Law of Ukraine on elections includes several recommendations to improve legislation on elections of MPs, made before by various domestic and international organizations, including the Venice Commission and OSCE, stated Minister of Justice Oleksandr Lavrynovych, commenting on preliminary draft joint opinion of the Venice Commission on the Draft Law on Election of MPs of Ukraine.

According to the minister, the conclusion states that in whole bill provides detailed regulation of elections and includes a number of improvements to the electoral law. "The project includes several recommendations to improve legislation on elections, made before by various domestic and international organizations, including the Venice Commission and OSCE," he said.

Lavrynovych also informed that the Ministry of Justice started to analyze the preliminary conclusions of the Commission. According to the minister, based on practice, it is expected that the official conclusion will be very similar in content to the preliminary document, handed to Ukraine by the Venice Commission.

Currently, he said, the text of the preliminary draft joint opinion of the Venice Commission is submitted for translation into Ukrainian, and it will be posted on the Ministry of Justice website.

The official thanked the experts of the Venice Commission and OSCE, noting that their operational work helps to ensure that Parliament can adopt the electoral law in terms recommended by the Venice Commission - a year before the parliamentary elections in the state.

September 13, 2011 Ministry of Justice received the preliminary draft joint opinion informal opinion of the Venice Commission on the Law of Ukraine on Election of People's Deputies of Ukraine. The conclusion is based on the comments to the bill submitted by two members of the Venice Commission - Aivars Endzins, Latvia and Srdjan Darmanovic, Montenegro, as well as OSCE Legal Expert Don Bisson.
