Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has stated that he will personally check how the proposals of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) and OSCE are taken into account during work on the election legislation.
"From my side, I will monitor whether the proposals of the Venice Commission and OSCE were taken into account during work on the bill, and during the further modification of election legislation," he said in his speech during a special meeting at the Verkhovna Rada to mark the 20th Independence Day of Ukraine, Interfax-Ukraine reported.
The president also said that local government reform is at the final stage of being readied for implementation.
