The National Electricity Regulatory Commission has said that electricity tariffs for the public could be reviewed in December 2011, commission member Kostiantyn Telychko said.

The commission had not yet decided on the dynamics of a possible increase in electricity tariffs, but the final decision would be made only after the receipt of data from the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry and the Social Policy Ministry. He added that the best option to bring the tariffs to an economically justified level was to gradually increase them by 25% within three years.

In his opinion, the justified level of electricity tariffs for the public is currently UAH 1.06 per kWh (including VAT). The National Electricity Regulatory Commission raised electricity tariffs for the public by 15% from April 2011.
