Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn has said that he has not yet signed a government law on measures to ensure reform of the pension system, which was passed by parliament on July 8, due to the fact that it is necessary to introduce "technical specifications" to the document, according to UKRINFORM.

He said that the amendments had already been worked out and prepared and that they would be considered by parliament on the first day of its next session that opens on September 6.

Lytvyn noted that the delay in signing the law was by no means linked to the motion submitted by opposition lawmakers to the Constitutional Court regarding the unconstitutionality of the adoption of the law.

The Verkhovna Rada chairman also said that the law on pension reform could not come into force on September 1, "taking into account the circumstances I have mentioned, as well as the need to ensure proper preparatory work for its application."
