President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych demands law enforcement authorities to ensure law and order during the collection of harvest, President Viktor Yanukovych said at a meeting with Interior Minister Anatoliy Mohyliov.
The President stressed criminal cases in this area must carefully study each particular case. "So that we would not repeat the situation of the old times, when people were thrown behind bars for an ear, while much worse abuses were overlooked," Viktor Yanukovych said.
The President stressed that if there is an irrelevance of violations and penalties for them, the Interior Ministry should initiate amendments to the legislation. If necessary, the President is ready to join this work.
In turn, Anatoliy Mohyliov reported that the appropriate instructions to ensure law and order during the collection of harvest have been sent to all the Departments of the Interior Ministry.
At the same time the Minister said that over 700 hectares of illicitly planted crops were revealed in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea alone.
