The Cabinet of Ministers has granted permission
to the U.S. Navy ship Grasp (USNS Grasp (T-ARS 51) to enter the
territorial waters of Ukraine and call in the Odesa Commercial Sea Port
on June 6-18 to participate in Sea the Breeze 2011 international naval
exercises.
The decision was taken by the
Government on May 25 in accordance with a written appeal of the U.S.
Embassy in Ukraine to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of
Defense, the commander of the Ukraine Navy on 22 April about the
possibility of an informal visit of the said vessel to the port of
Odesa.
In accordance with information provided by the U.S. Embassy, USNS Grasp deadweight is 3,335 tons, length - 78 meters, width - 15.5 meters, depth - 5.2 meters. On board the ship there are no nuclear weapons, attack submarines and naval aircraft aviation. Personnel on board - 11 officers and 51 crewmen.
