Disinterested attitude to the implementation of reforms in the country by the officials is unacceptable, President Viktor Yanukovych said at a meeting of the Governing Council of the Committee on Economic Reforms. The success of reforms, of course, depends heavily on the executors and their personal attitude to the work and discipline, he added.
Today, President Yanukovych said, the time has already come to draw conclusions and remove the people unwilling or unable to do the job effectively from the reforming process.
In this regard, the President asked the Prime Minister to provide the appropriate proposals. "I would like you to prepare proposals on staff changes in a short term – by the end of May... there surely must be inefficient executors in all the areas where we have already begun reforms," Viktor Yanukovych said, presidential press office reported.
He also suggested conducting by the end of May an audit of all the decisions taken at the meetings of the Governing Council of the Committee on Economic Reforms. "Where did we miss the schedule, and why did this happen? Why are we getting late? Is it our bad planning, or our executing officers cannot do it? It is necessary to draw conclusions. And, as it is often said, ‘distribute all the awards’. There is no other way. We cannot allow discrediting the work that has begun a year ago," he said.
The President drew particular attention to the importance of enhancing information work. First of all it concerns explaining to the society the objectives of the reforms and improvements they will bring in the future.
"The people must understand that we intend to build a modern country, to modernize it so that we were not ashamed of it before our children," Viktor Yanukovych stressed.
"We are all sure that everything we do will benefit the country and the people. We believe that we cannot waste time. This means that everyone must work effectively. My position on this matter is of principle," he said.
