Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has said the main goal of
her meetings with European politicians is to draw their attention to the
need to stop the Ukrainian government from moving Ukraine away Europe.
"Today I am meeting with European leaders in order to return our country to a path towards the European Union. It seems that a year ago Ukraine got a train traveling in the opposite direction from Europe," Yulia Tymoshenko said after meeting with EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule today in Brussels, Tymoshenko's official website reported.
Yulia Tymoshenko stresed that in Ukraine and abroad it is becoming clear that Viktor Yanukovych’s government in only imitating political reforms.
Stefan Fule thanked Yulia Tymoshenko for strengthening democracy and her desire to bring Ukraine closer to the EU. "We highly appreciate your efforts in this direction," he said.
Yulia Tymoshenko is in Brussels attending the summit of the European People’s Party. She is scheduled to deliver a speech today on the situation in Ukraine and its impact on relations with the EU.
