Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko believes that the opposition’s main achievement over the last year was the very fact of its existence in spite of the criminal persecution and repression.

"The main achievement is that there is a real opposition in a country with this kind of government, and despite the arrests, criminal charges, discrimination campaign and everything else being done today against the opposition, there is an opposition in Ukraine," Yulia Tymoshenko said on the show "Big Politics with Yevhen Kyseliov" on the Inter channel.

Yulia Tymoshenko believes that the opposition’s main task going forward is to work with civil society to defend citizens’ rights and freedoms. "Our goal is for the opposition together with civil society, and politicians willing to oppose what the government is proposing, to be united, to work out a common strategy and oppose the government’s unacceptable plans for Ukraine," she said, Tymoshenko's official website reported.

"There is an opposition in Ukraine. Many post-soviet countries can’t say the same," she added.

During the program, the audience was asked the following question: "How would you rate Yulia Tymoshenko’s work in the opposition?" 53% of viewers gave Yulia Tymoshenko a positive rating, while 47% consider her opposition activities as negative.
