On March 11 Ukrainian government approved formation of the Single State Register of citizens, who need better housing conditions, Vice PM and Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine Viktor Tykhonov announced. According to him, the register must be complete by the end of 2011.

Tyhonov informed that the purpose of implementing such a register is to provide transparent accounting of citizens who need improved housing conditions as well as public control over the distribution and provision of housing. “Single State Register of citizens, who need better housing conditions” will also clearly define obligations of the state and take them into account forming state and local budgets, Vice PM said.

The register is an automated information system for collecting, storing, providing, protecting and keeping information about people who need better housing conditions. Access to information displayed in the Single State Register will be provided through a specially created Web site in accordance with the law. Records of citizens will be submitted to register monthly by executive authorities, executive councils, enterprises, institutions and organizations.
