Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Mykola Tomenko has said that the parliamentary opposition has failed to collect 150 signatures from deputies required to initiate the consideration of a vote of no confidence in the Cabinet of Ministers, UKRINFORM reported.

The parliament's deputy speaker said that the initiative had currently been supported by 107 deputies of the BYuT-Batkivschyna faction and 11 deputies of the Our Ukraine-People's Self-Defense faction.

Tomenko said that Front for Change Party leader Arseniy Yatseniuk, under a similar initiative, had collected only 15 signatures of MPs.

"We still hope that the majority of the OU-PSD faction will adopt a fundamental position and collect the necessary number of signatures that will enable us to consider next week a vote of no confidence in the government," Tomenko said.

The opposition faction of BYuT-Batkivshchyna initiated the collection of signatures from deputies on October 18, 2010. Later, the OU-PSD faction joined the initiative.
