83.3% of the Ukrainians believe that court decisions are influenced by the welfare of plaintiffs and defendants. This is illustrated by the study of the Kharkiv Institute for Social Research conducted at the initiative of the Rule of Law program of the International Renaissance Foundation, UKRINFORM reported citing the Zerkalo Nedeli magazine.

42.8% of respondents do not believe that the court would pass a fair solution on them, and 44.8% do not believe that courts play an essential role in protecting the rights of Ukrainian citizens.

Circumvention of law (bribery, threats, connection) was called as the most widespread method of solving legal problems in Ukraine. 42.6% of respondents indicated the prevalence of this method. However, going to court, according to 33.4% of respondents, remains the most effective method of solving legal problems.

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a new edition of the law on the status of judges and judicial system. The said document, in particular, provides for liability of judges for hearing beyond the deadline. In addition, the Parliament amended a number of existing laws to prevent abuse of the right to appeal court verdicts.
