The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGS) in 2011 will upgrade 80% of railway border crossing points, which will serve the guests of the 2012 UEFA European Football Championships, chief of SBGS border control and registration department, Oleksandr Binkovsky told UKRINFORM.
"We are planning to complete this year the reconstruction of 9 out of 11 railway checkpoints. Works on the Kharkiv and K. Lopan checkpoints - in the next," he said.
According to the official, the Ministry of Infrastructure for these needs has allocated UAH 5,232 million (USD 1 - UAH 7.93).
Binkovsky emphasized, the dynamics of the work at the facilities indicates that the checkpoints will be put into operation in time.
As reported, the border control authorities identified 32 checkpoints, which will have the highest traffic load during EURO 2012, including 16 road, 11 railway, and 5 air ones.
