Ukraine and NATO have affirmed readiness to continue partnership relations, President Viktor Yanukovych said, speaking at a  joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen. He stressed that the parties have discussed a broad range of questions of bilateral relations between Ukraine and NATO. 

"We have agreed to continue maintaining an active political dialogue and developing practical cooperation between Ukraine and NATO. We will continue implementing all the existing projects and programs. Attention will be paid to effective use of the existing tools and formats of cooperation," he said, presidential press office reported. 

The President said it applies to activities of the NATO-Ukraine Commission, implementation of Ukraine-NATO annual national programs and joint working groups’ activities. 

Viktor Yanukovych also expressed gratitude for NATO's willingness to continue providing expert and resource assistance to comprehensive reforms in Ukraine – first of all, through the instrument of annual national programs. 

The Ukrainian side has confirmed its readiness to continue cooperation with NATO within the framework of peacekeeping operations, the President added. 

According to the President, the parties have also discussed opportunities for cooperation in combating both, traditional, and new security challenges and threats, and have dedicated attention to non-military aspects of cooperation (including the emergencies management). 

"Ukraine welcomes NATO's intention to strengthen cooperation with its partners expressed in the new Strategic Concept of NATO, and is ready for cooperation in the new planes. 

We have reached a common view that constructive partnership between Ukraine and NATO is important for international and regional security and stability. In its further development, we will pursue our national interests, also taking into account the interests of NATO and the need to strengthen European security and stability," he said. 

The parties, furthermore, have discussed the progress of reforms in Ukraine, transformations going on in NATO, and have exchanged views on the international security situation.
