"I am convinced that there is no alternative to strategic partnership between Ukraine and Poland. Our states and nations will be developing good-neighborly relations in harmony and respect, we will be building our common European home together," President Yanukovych said, presidential press office reported.
He thanked his friend and colleague President Bronislaw Komorowski for the warm welcome and traditional Polish hospitality, which the Ukrainian delegation saw in Warsaw.

For Ukraine, Poland is a permanent strategic partner, he said. In this context Viktor Yanukovych stressed the importance of Poland’s support to the European integration of Ukraine. "We have agreed with President Komorowski to work hard to enrich the Ukrainian-Polish relations with fundamentally new components," he said.
According to Viktor Yanukovych, the signed Roadmap of Bilateral Cooperation for 2011-2012 had exactly that aim.
"This document, among other things, foresees interaction in the process of European integration of Ukraine, cooperation in the energy sector, strengthening the humanitarian component, intensification of the preparations for Euro 2012, which are in their final stage," he said.
President Yanukovych drew particular attention to the fact that in order to enhance coordination of bilateral activities, the status of the Presidents’ Advisory Committee will be elevated, and it is from now on to be chaired by the Chiefs of Staff.
"We have also agreed on closer cooperation with Poland in the European dimension during its presidency over the EU in the second half of 2011," Viktor Yanukovych said.
The President emphasized that European integration is a key priority of Ukraine. “We feel Poland’s consistent and concrete support to our European aspirations," he said.
Viktor Yanukovych said that both Kyiv and Warsaw understand the enormity of the potential of cooperation between the two countries in economic and investment spheres.
According to the President, more substantial efforts should be made to develop trade and economic relations between Ukraine and Poland, so that they realized their real potential.

Among other tasks, which the parties identified for the nearest future, were further development of interregional cooperation, reconstruction of the existing and opening of new boarder checkpoints, and introduction of joint border and customs control.
The President reminded that meetings of regional governors from Ukraine and Poland are to be held today and tomorrow. "The question of Ukrainian-Polish inter-regional cooperation is extremely important for our countries. We are interested in studying Poland’s experience of the administrative-territorial reform. In this respect, Poland has already made considerable progress, while we have only started the systematic reform of our country," Viktor Yanukovych said.
The President also announced the intention to attend the Tenth Economic Forum "Ukraine – Poland” together with his Polish colleague.
"I am convinced that based on the principles of mutual trust and dialogue we will accelerate economic development of our countries. I plan to meet with representatives of business circles of Poland, as it is now important for us to seek new cooperation opportunities," he said.
