Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has received two invitations to visit Brussels in early February.
The European People's Party President Wilfried Martens and Secretary General Antonio Lopez-Isturiz have invited Yulia Tymoshenko to visit the EPP headquarters on January 31 – February 4. "We are concerned by recent actions by the authorities against the opposition. In particular, the EPP is very troubled by the criminal case opened against you," reads the invitation, Tymoshenko's official website reported.
Yulia Tymoshenko has also been invited to speak at the 50th anniversary of the European Democrat Students (EDS) in Brussels on February 1.
Also speaking at the celebration will be European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, former President of the European Parliament Hans-Gert Pöttering (2007-2009), and EPP President Wilfried Martens.
European Democrat Students (EDS) is a pan-European centre-right student and youth political association representing over 500 000 students in 38 member organisations from 33 countries in Europe. It advocates for a free, democratic and united Europe through a greater student mobility and comprehensive education policies across the continent.
