President  Viktor Yanukovich has officially welcomed President of Israel Shimon Peres in Kyiv, Ukraine.

After the welcoming ceremony, the two Presidents began a tete-a-tete meeting to be followed by Ukrainian-Israeli talks.

Welcoming the guest in Ukraine, President Yanukovych said: "We have many things to discuss. That is, first of all, fighting the economic crisis, and trade-economic relations between Ukraine and Israel in this context. "

"Our peoples are linked closely," President Yanukovych said adding that it is an apparent reason to dedicate much attention humanitarian cooperation during today's talks.

The President expressed confidence that all the issues to be discussed and resolved today will enhance bilateral relations between Ukraine and Israel.

From his part, President Perez thanked for the warm reception in Ukraine. "I am very pleased to be in Kyiv, Ukraine. Ukraine is a part of our history ... Jews have been living here for thousands of years," he said.

"We have a very good start of economic relations between our countries," Shimon Peres said. He expressed confidence that visa-free travel agreement, in July this year in Jerusalem, and agreement on mutual protection of investments, to be signed by the parties today, will contribute to further development of constructive bilateral relations and rapprochement of our countries.
