Great Britain announced plans to launch talks with Ukraine to simplify visa regime between the two countries by the end of 2010, UK ambassador to Ukraine Leigh Turner told reporters Monday, UKRINFORM reported.

In his words, the British side hopes that visa negotiations with the Ukrainian authorities will start soon and plans to launch this process by the end of the year.

According to the diplomat, the system of issue of visas to Ukrainians by his country is very successful. Turner said they issue visas as quickly as possible, and with great respect to visa applications.

He also added that according to British law the UK visa fee should cover the cost of providing visas, but in reality, the ambassador said, they are not compensated.

Earlier, UK Foreign Secretary William Hague said the UK intends to fully support the European integration of Ukraine.

Great Britain is a member of the European Union but not part of the Schengen zone.
