The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine late on Thursday adopted the Tax Code at second reading, with 169 lawmakers voting for this decision, UKRINFORM reported.

At the same time, it is expected that the parliament's committee on taxation and customs policy, along with the Cabinet of Ministers, will analyze all of the technical amendments, corrections and other proposals, which occupy 32 pages, finalize them, and, in accordance with Article 131 of the parliament's rules of procedure, parliamentarians will hold a vote on another document, as amendments to the Tax Code, before the code is submitted to the Ukrainian president for signature.

Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn told MPs before the vote on the draft Tax Code: "I hope that everyone understands that by adopting this document, we do not stop work on the Tax Code. We worked on this document for more than six months. It is clear that we should reach a compromise between those who pay taxes, as well as the needs and commitments of the state. We should think about the majority of people, and it is clear that there will be some losses here. It is clear that we will monitor the implementation of this document and take respective decisions."
