Roads construction is a priority of state policy, President Viktor Yanukovych said in an interview in Luhansk.

Speaking about the bypass road around Luhansk, opened Wednesday, President Yanukovych emphasized its importance. "This is a very important road, which not only creates conditions for heavy trucks to bypass the regional center, thus protecting residents of Luhansk from the harmful effects of exhaust gases, but also prevents the damage of roads," he said.

"I would like to congratulate the residents of Luhansk on this great event," Viktor Yanukovych said.

The President added that the construction of roads in our state would continue. "We will continue building roads towards Russia, towards Izvaryne, so that we were connected with good roads to the Russian Federation," he said.

Viktor Yanukovych also said that the construction of road to Donetsk would soon begin. "We will connect the two regional centers with first category roads," he said.

President Yanukovych said that a number of roads would be put into operation across Ukraine this year. "In general, over 800 km of roads will be built – 10 times more than previous year," Viktor Yanukovych said.

He noted that in addition to roads of state importance, regional and urban roads would also be built. "We will certainly reach rural areas," he said.
